Frit
If you didn't already know this, Frit
is the trade term used to describe recycled glass once it has been
ground down into a fine sand. Generally 'Frit' is seen as a midway
stage in a longer manufacturing process and is normally supplied as
a raw material for making tiles or even recycled glass bottles. However,
Frit has an aesthetic all of its own and could be used in a variety
of ways which don't involve melting or pressing.
Panels
These
panels (or 'bricks') are manufactured using 100% recycled glass. They
are perfectly clear which is unusual for a recycled glass as it usually
takes on a greenish tint following the second processing. The panels
come in a range of surface textures and patterns, each of which manipulate
the light in different ways.
Tiles
A wide range of tiles in a range of colours
and sizes, made from 100% recycled glass cullet. The glass recyclate
is ground to a fine Frit and then exposed to a combination of heat
and pressure to create these opaque, textured pieces.
