Consider the following statements about the graduate labour market in the UK. Are they true (T) or false (F)… or somewhere in between(?)?
1) "Graduate jobs mean rapid promotion and job-for-life security"
T ? F
2) "Graduates only work for large, blue-chip organisations" T ? F
3) "Employers are only interested in academic performance, so a degree is a guarantee of a 'good' job" T ? F
4) "If you have a degree you won't need to do any more studying" T ? F
5) "Employers always look for graduates from a specific degree discipline" T ? F

5)   Not a statement that can be rejected outright as false as some scientific and technical occupations call for particular degrees disciples, but overall the picture is more complicated. Because:
  1. About 40%-50% of advertised vacancies for graduates are open to graduates of any discipline.
  2. Destinations of graduates even from vocational degrees are more diverse than previously: they enter a range of occupations and postgraduate courses.
  3. There is vocational relevance in any degree, be it Archaeology or Zoology. The trick is to recognise the skills and interests you are developing, and how these transfer into employment and other options
