It is true to say that the complexity and sophistication of selection
methods used by employers increases with the size and scope of the
organisation, and with the level of the job.
As you might expect, large graduate recruiters often use purpose-designed
application forms, then a first interview followed by an extended
second interview and assessment centre. They spend a good deal
of money and expertise to attract the right sort of candidates
to their graduate training schemes. Small employers on the other
hand tend to have fewer resources and skills at their disposal,
and therefore have more informal and ad hoc recruitment practices.
