  1. 'How many applications do I have to make in order to be offered a job?'

      This is a question frequently asked by anxious students who are busy with their final year dissertations and projects and also keen to find a job before they graduate.

      Unfortunately, no simple mathematical equation exists which can help answer this question except to say that quality is greater than quantity.

      A thoroughly researched and targeted application to perhaps 3 or 4 employers can result in invites to interview for some students, while others may apply to over 30 employers and not get a sniff of an interview.
