You will need to use the University site LRCs for some items not held by the Careers Service. If you need support with Internet skills books are available. We suggest the following:
  • Online tutorial on the Netskills website - click on the tutorial option "Tonic"
  • Finding a Job on the Internet. Brendan Murphy. Internet Handbooks 2001
  • Surfing Your Career. Hilary Nickell. How To Books 2002
  • Your Top 500 Recruitment Websites. Andrea Watson. Trotman 2001
  • Online Job Hunting. Martin Yate and Terra Dourlain. Kogan Page 2002
  • Job Hunting on the Internet. Richard Nelson Bolles & Mark Emery Bolles
  • The Internet Job Search Handbook. Andrea Semple & Matt Haig

As you can see some of the above are a little out of date. There are no updated versions of the books available. Also, you may feel that you are sufficiently 'Internet aware' so you do not need these resources. That is fine. They are here for guidance only if you do need some extra information.

If you know of useful web sites that could usefully be added to our Research Resources, please let us know.

You are now ready to proceed to the Research Resources (RR) and to start work on your assignment. (Please remember that the assignment is not the one you have been set) You may wish to take a break at this point - if you do, you can jump straight to the RR from the beginning of this section.
