Think about using this interview to add to and confirm the information you already have from other sources. Here are some further questions you might ask:
  1. How long have you been working in this position?
  2. How did you find the job? (where was it advertised, etc.)
  3. What qualifications, special knowledge, skills and/or experience did you have or need for entry to this job?
  4. What opportunities have you had for further training?
  5. Is there a typical 'career path' in your field? Are promotions easy/automatic?
  6. What was your starting salary and what is it now? Are salary rises frequent/automatic?
  7. What are the working conditions like - the environment, working relationships, hours of work actually put in, levels of stress, etc.
  8. What do you like most and least about the job?
  9. How does your work contribute to the organisation's overall strategic plan and objectives?
  10. Has your work been affected by labour market trends, such as changes in technology and marketplace competition?
  11. How do you see future potential in this job/industry?
