Low cost (£50 or less)

- Insulate hot water tanks
- Fix any leaking taps or pipes
- If you don’t like coming back to a dark home look into plugs with a timer device for use with a lamp
- Install chimney balloons to keep cold air out and warm air in
- Draught proof windows, doors and loft hatches
- Install a water saving device in toilet cisterns
Medium cost (£500 or less)
- Insulate loft or top up existing insulation to 27cm depth
- Install cavity wall insulation in any cavity walls
- Replace old appliances with new, energy efficient ones
- Install new heating controls such as a thermostat on each radiator
Measures that cost over £500
- Replace boilers that are older than 15 years with new condensing boilers
- Install double glazing
- Install renewable micro power or heating systems e.g. Ground source heat pumps, wind turbines, solar panels.
